About
My name is Mayu Kimura.
I’m the owner of Kigo Travel and a Travel Consultant based in Kyoto, Japan. I’ve always had a passion for exploring new places and cultures, and Japan’s rich traditions are what inspired me to pursue a career in travel.
After finishing high school in Victoria, BC, Canada, and earning a degree in Tourism Management from the University of Queensland in Australia, I returned to Japan to work in the inbound tourism industry.
Over the past decade, I’ve worked in various roles across budget to luxury travel, including as an International Liaison Manager, Tour Operator, and Executive Assistant at a local travel agency. Since 2017, I’ve also been offering personalized e-Concierge services and creating custom itineraries for international travelers.
In 2023, I decided to leave my 9-5 job and start Kigo Travel, where I now focus on helping travelers explore Japan through personalized, meaningful experiences. I’m here to make your journey in Japan unforgettable.
Along with my passion for travel, I’m also a proud mom of two boys. In Japan, women often sacrifice for their families, and I want to change that. Through my journey, I aim to show that women, even mothers, can achieve great things. My goal is to inspire women by proving that with a dream, action, and support, anything is possible.
